There are numerous state parks such as Ohiopyle, Laurel Hill and Laurel Ridge for those who like hiking and exploring. The Allegheny Highlands Rails to Trails winds it's way through several towns within minutes of Somerset for those who enjoy biking or walking. White water rafting, kayaking and canoeing are additional options at Ohiopyle State Park and swimming and boating are enjoyed at the Youghiogheny Reservoir.

For those interested in craft shows, festivals and antiques, there are many shops and frequent events held in Somerset or the surrounding areas. For history buffs, take a step back in time and visit the Somerset Historical Center, the Johnstown Flood Museum, the Compass Inn (an original stagecoach stop) and Fort Ligonier.
